Australian based artist, Rachel Reading has been perfecting her charcoal on timber technique for the past several years.

Originally a school teacher with a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching she combines the two and has found a nice balance as well as being a mum to 3 children. 

Rachel has used many mediums over the years but her love of charcoal is one she wishes to perfect. Her technique involves hand drawing using compressed charcoal onto a timber surface.

Her artworks are influenced by our native  Australian flora and fauna. Many creations combine native flowers and fish caught on the coast of her home town.

This combination represents a calmness found in both land and sea. Both beautiful, both silent, both have exquisite detail and form, both represent where they come from without a sound, simply enjoy!
